Akasha, a log home, of over 5,000 square feet, was landscaped
utilizing native vegetation and designed to blend into a hillside
overlooking Whistler Village. A double roof structure provides
energy efficiency, as well as additional protection from the
extreme weather conditions in the area.
Akasha is situated on the property to take full advantage
of the views of Whistler Village, the Whistler Golf Course
and the mountains.
The unique design utilizes viewscapes to ensure privacy and
creates special places inside the home, such as the cupola.
The home features a 400-year-old cedar with a circular stairwell
with a unique chairlift cable railing and hand carved glass
windows. The open living and dining/kitchen areas provide
a comfortable space for family and friends. The entertainment
center, wine cellar, outdoor Jacuzzi, flow from the pool area,
which features a natural waterfall, hand carved totems, and
hand made tiles with gold inlay.

Akasha was developed in Whistler Resort, a recreational Mecca
on the West Coast of British Columbia situated on Whistler
Mountain overlooking the Whistler Golf Course and public tennis
courts. The Whistler Valley Trail system and a ski/in ski/out
trail located nearby enable the occupants to easily access
many areas of the Resort.
A unique blend of West Coast Native arts with Asia Pacific
influences, the home is designed around the West Coast native
tradition of the Spirit Circle, with the spa area of the home
at the core. This area features a lap pool surrounded by four
totems with a cascading waterfall built into a rock face.
A steam shower with native stones provides a relaxing retreat.
The area opens to a natural deck outside, featuring a Jacuzzi
built into the rocks, with an entertainment area with adjacent
wine cellar. Bicycle and ski/snowboard storage areas are located
adjacent the garage.
